Frequently asked questions

Who are we?

StormQuant Inc., founded in 2019, specializes in precision weather insights using cutting-edge radar hardware and advanced software. Our solutions cater to high-stakes sectors including aviation, emergency management, and logistics, delivering hyperlocal, real-time weather data through a meshed network of radar systems.

What differentiates StormQuant’s hardware solution?

Our dual-polarimetric Doppler IoT radar sensor’s Features include:

  • Compact size ( 6ft x 4 ft, 250 lbs.) for easy deployment
  • Mesh network for redundancy and no coverage gaps
  • Low power requirements and automatic recovery after outages
  • Vertical scanning for tracking airborne and seaborne threats
  • X-Band wavelength enables hyper-accurate readings of weather systems down to a particulate size
What Differentiates StormQuant’s Software Solution?

Our software integrates weather data from multiple sources into an intuitive dashboard. Features Include:

  • 2D and 3D weather visualization
  • Ingestions and visualization of existing weather radar data (NEXRAD and TDWR in 3D
  • Real-time data analysis with user-defined alerts.
  • Tools for storm tracking, flight path overlays, and critical infrastructure monitoring.
  • Predictive analytics using true wind velocity vectors
What is the “Weather Problem”?

Extreme weather events are increasing, causing billions in damage annually and impacting industries such as logistics, aviation, shipping, energy and, insurance. Current systems are costly, imprecise, and lack global coverage, leaving over 5 billion people without early warning systems.

What Are the limitations of current weather solutions?

NEXRAD installation in Puerto Rico which was destroyed after a hurricane. It took over 9 months to repair the installation leaving the entire island blind to the incoming weather

  • Inability to detect severe weather in the lower atmosphere
  • Large size, high costs, and reliance on extensive purpose built infrastructure
  • Months-long downtime for repairs after damage
  • Limited to 2D weather visualization, which hinders decision-making
  • Utilize S-Band and C-Band wavelengths which can not capture important details
What are some example applications of StormQuant’s technology beyond traditional weather monitoring?

Extreme weather has caused almost every sector of the global economy to incur losses. Some of the most impacted markets that could benefit from using our technology include:

Logisitics:

  • By providing information on weather conditions along transportation routes, companies can better plan and manage their logistics operations, avoiding delays and minimizing the risk of damage to goods in transit

Seaports and Airports:

  • Highly accurate, real-time super local weather data for Airport and Seaport operations while monitoring for potential threads (birds, UAVs, and other airborne & seaborne objects) reducing delays and improving safety
  • StormQuant’s solution can be leveraged for airborne and seaborne navigation through storms that would otherwise delay or divert vessels

Energy Production:

  • Accurate weather prediction and detection enables power plants to take measures to mitigate damage to their systems while staying operational to provide power during extreme weather events

Insurance:

  • Hyperlocal weather data allows insurance companies the ability to review claims on a micro level, improving loss prevention and actuary tables
Is StormQuant being used?

Florida Department of Emergency Management (FDEM)

Space Launch Delta 45

StormQuant Radar systems have been installed and software has been deployed to customers in Florida:

  • StormQuant has had its radars installed and software deployed for the Florida Department of Emergency Management (FDEM) and Space Launch Delta 45 (SLD 45)
  • SLD 45 originally approached StormQuant to help improve its launch preparedness due to the cost of delays due to weather, it is estimated that a delay can cost upwards of $4 million per day
  • StormQuant recently installed 3 Radars covering Central and Southern Florida on a 3-year multimillion dollar contract
  • FDEM is responsible for Florida’s hurricane preparedness and disaster response, they have used StormQuant’s hardware and software solution for the first time this hurricane season to improve their responses to Hurricane Helene and Milton
  • StormQuant is currently pursuing other state and federal contracts in the United States and is being received as a next generation technology for weather and threat response
What are some future features of StormQuant’s technology

StormQuant is an R&D focused company working to bring next generation products to the market. Our products in development include:

  • Intra-Storm Navigation and turn by turn weather avoidance
  • Consumer Weather application
  • DoD specific software applications
